ABOUT US

Why we are doing this:

The Noteable Recyclists are a team of 8 high schoolers at Bethel High School in Shawnee, Oklahoma. We decided to participate in the Lexus Eco Challenge to win money for our school and STEM club. We came up with the idea to make notepads after our school stopped their paper recycling because of harsh budget cuts. This was a large concern for us, so we created a quick and efficient way to make notepads out of recycled copy paper.

The Notable Recyclists have been chosen as one of the winners in the Lexus Eco Challenge and have won $10,000. We have also been invited to participate in the final challenge where we have to grow and expand our project in hopes of winning the grand prize of $30,000. The new question to answer was exactly how do we expand our project? With careful thinking, we have discovered that the paper that has been written on from the notepads, and the unusable peices of paper, was being thrown away. This has caused another issue for us to tackle. We thought about was of reusing it again and have decided to shred the excess paper to donate it to small animal petting zoos, and the local Boy Scouts of America troop.

To help spread awareness about our project and recycling, we have started a social media "challenge." To participate, snap a photo/ selfie of how you recycle with the #recyclelikeme and post it to your social media page. Tag 5 friends to do the same and help spread awareness about recycling.
